About Dr. DJ

🎧 Dr. DJ Aiaio is a Toronto-based music creator building a musical universe instead of staying inside one genre. Reggae, R&B, hip-hop, house, blues-rock, jazz, trance, electronic, Latin grooves, dancehall and soul can all find a home here.

Toronto shaped the sound. I have been listening to music since the 1970s, through the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. The 1980s were a huge influence, but every decade brought sounds, artists and ideas that stayed with me. Living in one of the world’s most diverse cities also meant being influenced by people, cultures and communities from everywhere.

The dream of making music started early. As a left-handed child, I took guitar lessons but was pushed to play right-handed and never felt comfortable. The guitar was put down, but the music never left. There is even a favourite family joke about being born almost exactly nine months after Jimi Hendrix died—and being destined to play left-handed.

Today, AI tools help turn those ideas into complete songs, characters and performers. Each project can have its own voice, story and identity, from Harlan Bishop’s rockabilly to Spanish-language music and the many sounds of Dr. DJ Radio.
